Coffs Harbour is a mid-north-coast centre with a relatively small population spread along the coast and back into the hinterland, taking in Sawtell, Toormina, Boambee, and Woolgoolga. Getting to a practitioner shouldn't depend on which part of the Coffs Coast you live in, so we combine in-person visits with remote and telehealth support to keep things moving for families who might otherwise face a long drive for every session.
Like many regional towns at a distance from the major cities, Coffs Harbour can have fewer behaviour support practitioners available locally than a metropolitan area, and that can translate into longer waits. We aim to ease this by drawing on practitioners who understand regional and coastal life and by using telehealth where it suits, so distance and thin local availability don't stand between a participant and timely support.
On the Mid North Coast a participant's supports are often a small, close-knit web: a local school, an allied health provider and a support coordinator who may already know each other. We make a point of working with that web rather than around it, so the behaviour support strategy stays the same one whether the person is at home, at school or out around Coffs Harbour.
