NDIS Positive Behaviour Support in Darwin

PBSG provides NDIS positive behaviour support in Darwin and across the Top End: practical, trauma-informed support designed to work in real homes, schools, day programs, and community settings, not just on paper.

We work alongside participants, families, support coordinators, and support teams to understand why behaviours of concern are happening, and to put clear, usable strategies in place. We begin by getting to know the person and their situation, rather than reaching for a quick label, because what looks the same from the outside can mean very different things.

Darwin covers a lot of ground, from the city centre out through the northern suburbs around Casuarina and Nightcliff, across to Palmerston, and into the rural area beyond. We work across these areas and combine in-person visits in and around Darwin with remote and telehealth sessions, so that the long distances of the Top End don't decide whether a person gets timely, consistent support.

The Northern Territory's distances are real, and travel can take time, so we're upfront about what in-person support looks like and where remote sessions make more sense. Our aim is steady, joined-up behaviour support. We collaborate with local schools, allied health providers, and support coordinators so that strategies stay consistent across the different settings a person moves through.

Many participants and families in the Territory come from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and culturally safe, respectful practice matters. We aim to listen first, work with families and the people who know a person best, and adapt our approach to their context rather than imposing one. We don't claim to have all the answers, but we take this seriously and welcome guidance from the community and other services involved.

FAQs about behaviour support in Darwin

Do you provide behaviour support in person in Darwin?

We can work in and around Darwin in person when capacity allows, and otherwise by video. The right balance usually depends on where a participant is (closer in around Casuarina or Nightcliff is more straightforward than the rural area further out). Tell us where you are and we'll set out honestly what we can do.

How do you manage the long distances in the Northern Territory?

The distances out here are real, and we'd rather be candid about them than promise visits we can't sustain. In-person work tends to centre on Darwin, Palmerston and the northern suburbs, while telehealth carries the regular contact for families in the rural area and beyond. That way support stays steady even where the drive is long.

Can you connect with a participant's school or other services in the Top End?

Where a participant agrees, yes. With services in the Territory often spread thin and spread out, joining up matters even more, so we'll coordinate with a person's school, allied health team and support coordinator so everyone is working from the same plan rather than pulling in different directions across the settings someone moves through.

Do you provide culturally safe behaviour support?

We aim to. Many Territory participants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and we try to listen first, work with families and the people who know a person best, and adapt to their context. We welcome guidance from community and other services, and don't claim to have all the answers.
