The Gold Coast is a long, fast-growing city strung out between the hinterland and the coast, and the people we support are spread right across it: the central hubs around Southport and Surfers Paradise, the family suburbs of Robina and Nerang, the southern beach communities at Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach, and the busy northern growth corridor around Coomera. Travel between these areas can eat up a lot of time, so we combine in-person visits with remote and telehealth support to keep sessions regular without families crossing the city for every appointment.
Although the Gold Coast is one of Australia's larger population centres, demand for behaviour support practitioners here is high and availability can still be stretched, particularly in the rapidly expanding northern suburbs. We aim to help by drawing on practitioners who know the area and by using telehealth where it suits, so a family in Coomera or a participant near Palm Beach can access support at a reasonable pace rather than joining a long queue.
Because the Gold Coast spreads its services across a wide footprint, a participant can easily end up with a school, an allied health provider and a support coordinator who rarely speak to one another. We work to close that gap, keeping in step with each of them so the behaviour support approach stays dignity-first and recognisable wherever the person is during their week, rather than fragmenting into competing plans.
